Medical Marijuana in California?

I am a 16 year old diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety , Depression and ADD. I have been taking medicine since I was 12. I discovered Marijuana when I was 14 and feel alot better about that than becoming physically addicted to man made pills. I have had severe withdrawals when switching medication in the past. My question is, besides amotivational syndrome, isn’t Mariuana alot more natural medicine than pills? I plan on bringing my medical records to southern California and visiting a doctor as soon as I get there. Is this wrong?

Past marijuana users (age 30+ preferred) a few questions for you…?

This is no joke, I’m seriously looking for advice!

First of all, my standpoint is I believe it’s therapeutic and medically beneficial for some people when used responsibly.

Here goes:

I have a family member that has a passion for the leaf.
Is a very responsible person, has a good career, mentally, morally and ethically sound, etc.
This person does has anxiety issues, and I do not comment on their smoking habits much as I can see the benefits they gain from it. It does not change their personality, perception, etc. at all, just seems to take a good deal of the edge off.
The cons are: I see it’s a higher priority in their finances than other necessities, and also the times when they are “dry” they go through this intense mental withdrawal from it.

So I want to convince them that it may be a good idea to cut back, start using it only for occasional recreation – if at all. The last time I brought it up they looked at me as if I had just asked them to give me a vital organ or something! (was insulted by me suggesting there was possibly a problem)
I don’t want to refer them to any kind of counseling or a doctor, I mean this is already something they keep under tight raps, I’d like to be able to “coach” them myself if I can.

How did you kick (or lessen) the habit ON YOUR OWN FREE WILL? (meaning not because you HAD to do it for a job, a spouse, a child, etc.)
What did you use as your motivation?
How did you deal with the withdrawals, assuming you had any?
Is there anything I could do personally for them?

I am looking for friendly advice based on your personal experience.
I’m not really interested in replies that will be degrading or insulting – I will just report them, ok?

Thanks everyone!
Oh, is already on anxiety meds (as needed)
Thanks for the answers so far…
Chloe – they bug me to smoke with them all the time, it actually makes me sick to my stomach, so I don’t/can’t/won’t… that was a good idea though!

i smoked it for about 2 and a half months straight and it was fine, it was a fun summer and i had good experiences with it. then the week when school started up and i had to go to college for the first time my dad basically caught me doing it and i didnt smoke for a week. i started getting withdrawals and then when they ended i did it again but a little less than i did before. than this one night i had a bad experience with it and then i felt like super crappy the next morning like depressed and restless and stuff and it was like that for a month. then after about a week after i felt better i tried it again just a joint between me and my friend of baby dro and i was fine at first but then when i got home and was coming down off the high i was anxious and restless and scared that i made the withdrawal longer and i did i went through it for 13 more days. now its been 4 months since ive done it i feel fine like if i did it nothing bad would happen i wanted to do it again because i had good times with it and stuff and i wont do it again and i dont want to drink because thats worse. i think its because i wasnt all the way through withdrawal so when i did it it made it worse. do you think i can do it again? but just not as much
. i just want to go back to when i was fine and happy doing it with my friends.
*also the weed wasnt laced b/c my friend was fine

Marijuana detox?

May 3, 2010 by admin

Hi, my good friend has finally seen the light and realized she needs to stop smoking marijuana. She’s been smoking for over 20 years. She’s going to go cold turkey, starting today. She is also a heavy cigarette smoker and is going to quit both at the same time. Her husband was trying to help also and went out and bought her some nicotine gum to help her quit. But I think it’d be best just to go cold turkey and get all the sh*t out.
I know she’s going to go through withdrawals and I’ve read about the detox symptoms online. What I want to know, is, what can I do to help her? How can I help ease her suffering? I really want her to succeed in this. And she wants to too.
Any advice for her? Please?

Whats with all the marijuana propoganda?

Its not the uninformed people that make me mad, but the people that try to brainwash etc and lie on television
heres some MYTHS that they keep on bringing up that is just plain stupid.

1) marijuana is addictive…
it doesn’t cause physical dependence or 99.9 percent of heavy smokers stop with ease and ANY withdrawals are remarkably mild.. fact: most experts say marijuana is slightly less addictive then caffeine..

2) marijuana kills brain cells (this one really pisses me off)
this has NEVER been proven, and is a myth that started a quarter of a century ago, tests on monkeys on thc equal to 4 or 5 marijuana cigerettes a year have shown absolutly NO evidence of brain abnormality.

3)Marijuana Impairs Memory and Cognition.
In laboratory studies only display diminished capacity to learn while under the influence! There is no convincing evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently impairs memory or other cognitive functions.

I dont have any more character space..
heres another, i got a few more major myths but im done ranting
4) Marijuana is More Damaging to the Lungs Than Tobacco.

Fact:: moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. heavy users of smoked marijuana were found not to have any increased risk of lung cancer. Unlike heavy tobacco smokers, heavy marijuana smokers exhibit no obstruction of the lung’s small airway. That indicates that people will not develop emphysema from smoking marijuana.

marijuana is less harmful then alcohol, and the only even remotely valid argument against legalization is that the government will have problems taxing it.
so what is with all these ignorant people, its scary.
