Hi, ive been clean for only two days now. Today will be the third. Ive been smoking everyday, none stop for about 5yrs now. Thats just non stop. In all i’ve been smoking for 12yrs. Im really trying to clean my life up and get my act together. Marijuana hasn’t stopped me from doing normal things like having a good job and school. Anyway, Its really hard for me right now that im going through withdrawal. I can tell im more depressed and irritable i also don’t eat as much “go figure”. I dont want to go out or do anything. Its ironic because thats what people say weed does to you when you intake. Im really not asking a question rather trying to get some words of encouragement or wisdom even some advice on some things that i can do from those who UNDERSTAND and ignored will be the ones who just want to criticize just to get some points so feel free to do whatever but im only in attention to those who understand so…type on.

    just try ur best.

    How could you afford to smoke so much?

    Try finding a hobby or joining an exercise class or something. I say the exercise class because being around motivated people might help right now. Hobbies are always good, if you surround yourself with positive things, the depression will go away.

    Attending AA or NA meetings can definitely help you and they are all over the place.

    Exercise will give you a natural high and improve your energy.

    Don’t be too hard on yourself. Reward yourself each day that you are clean with something large or small, a manicure or a hot fudge sundae.

    Congrats! I, personally, do not think marijuana is wrong, but its great that you are making positive changes in your life.

    Breaking any habit will make you cranky. That’s not withdrawl, just human nature, lol. Pot isn’t physically addicting. It can seem that way though if you are self medicating.

    Just keep in mind that all these symptoms are temporary. You will get through it…it only takes a few days. Remember how much this stuff costs you. Remember why you decided to quit. Stay focused on that, and try to keep yourself distracted. Read a book or whatever.

    If the depression does not lift though, you need to talk to a doctor. A lot of people who smoke pot are actually self medicating for things like anxiety and depression…often they don’t even realize it. When you stop smoking, the depression/anxiety/headaches/whatever come back and it sucks.

    hang in there.

    ETA: The “research” that has been posted is being misrepresented by the media. Correlation != causation. It was not a study, but a meta-analysis that could not control for pre-existing mental conditions.

    I’ve experience the same thing when supply was limited and hard to find. I take it you are cleaning up for a urine test?

    It has been my experience that the withdrawal symptoms are more mental or emotional than physical.

    My marijuana use, as well as my drinkng, smoking, cussing, having hatred with others as well as being cold hearted toward those who loved me most, all changed when I made Jesus Christ Lord and Saviour of my life. Now, I am a new creation in Christ with old things past away and now all things are new. I have love, peace and joy and I have been set free from the power of sin and I have been changed from a drug addicted pauper to a king of the King, Jesus Christ. I am now a child of the living God and He has the power to do for anyone as He has done for me, if they will only call and believe on His name..

    You’re definitely on the right path…

    YOU WANT to clean your life up and are making an effort to do so. You see what smoking weed does/had done to you and are tired of it. So I give much respect and applause for WANTING to change your life. Most people just keep going and think the drug is gonna do that for them. The depression, irritability, (paranoia?) are symptoms of marijuana withdrawal…just to name a few.

    God Bless!

    High! Greetings from POTtstown, PA
    Honest, thats the name of our closest city.
    Anyway, the reason you feel withdraw is from what I understand is the same reason
    you feel it from ciggarettes; evidently it contains tar – I’m not sure thats whats addictive in ciggs, thats just what I heard;
    but probably your real withdraw struggle
    is psychological. Thats because for the past five years you have “depended” on it to relax; chill out after a long day, etc etc.

    Here is some real truth for you: Ya know what the real problem is in the World? It sure as hell isn’t weed, its ALCOHOL.
    When was the last time you smoked a joint and then got so angry you beat someone up? Or passed out behind the wheel from it and killed somebody? It amazes me that
    Alchohol is legal, yet weed isn’t. Other than a small, small sip of wine in the evening being shown to have some benefit to the stomach, Alcohol has no benefits whatsoever; people change into crazyasses, and do God only knows what;
    alot of people don’t even remember what they do afterwards, ya know?

    Other than alot of work places giving randem urine tests, and as long as you stay
    the hell home and relax with a bowl, (so that you don’t get busted) I see nothing whatsoever wrong with it. It is relaxing, but
    doesn’t impair you. Around here, we are dank snobs! We don’t drink booze, and we don’t fight or do anything in our home that would draw police attention – so we are very
    comfortable having that evening bowl.
    We have a 7yr old son, and so obviously
    we would wait until he is snug as a bug in his bedroom asleep, and then we will
    put on a movie or play some music and just
    relax – no harm to anyone or anything.

    I’m an original Woodstocker, so I was brought up in the 60’s – too bad ya can’t get an ounce of dank for $15.00 anymore;
    anyway, I have to be honest with you: I
    haven’t ever really discussed this about myself before, but your question got my
    attention. If you really need to for a job interview or something, I understand.
    But if you keep a “cool” house with no crazy crap going on that would get the police over there, then why deprive yourself of something you enjoy? If you drink alcohol, thats what I’d quit, honestly.
    Anyway, if you really are absolute about wanting to stop, then the only thing you can do is just keep yourself busy with other stuff.
    Its gonna be really hard because after all,
    this has been your routine for five years now. Its been our routine for 40 years!!!!

    Best of luck, and ignore anybody who wants
    to judge you – you know how people are;
    if its not this, they’ll find something else
    to judge you about!
    Hang in there…..

    Oh yes, I have been there and back and there and back again! I completely empathize with you! When I quit after long periods of smoking, I get VERY cranky and angry (I basically despise the world), I can’t sleep, I have brain fog, and I lose my appetite as well. The first few days are the worst, too. It will get better, trust me! It usually takes me about a week to start feeling better. The best thing you can do right now is distract yourself….read a good book, learn a new hobby (I love to bead – necklaces, earrings and such), and exercise (helps your endorphins flow!) and stretch (helps to detoxify your body!). Use this time to get reacquainted with the sober “you”, and put a real emphasis on your health and well being. Eat healthy all natural foods, meditate, drink lots of green tea and soothing herbal teas, read, write, and take long walks. I’m suggesting all of this because these things really help me when I quit smoking. Just remember, you are not alone! I wish the best to you, and I hope you find happiness in your life!

    doing the same thing, makes me a lil restless, and anxiety creeps in, but phsical exercise is a good counter defense, after a long run, I get runners high

    which is some chemical the body produces to repair those cramped muscles

    it feels like you drank a beer, makes you calm, more of an upper, so try it, after a lil while you’ll get into the habit of exercise which is a great replacement
